Graha Nalla Orai — Day & Night Hora Table
Choose your weekday, then use the hourly slots. Each cell shows Day (பகல்) and Night (இரவு) hora rulers. ★ marks Subha Orai (Moon / Mercury / Venus / Jupiter).
Note: Traditional hora tables are computed from sunrise. If your city’s sunrise differs noticeably from 6:00 a.m., shift the sequence accordingly or cross-check your local panchangam.
Graha Nalla Orai (கிரக நல்ல ஓரைகள்) — a simple guide
Planet-ruled hourly windows used as a quick first filter for everyday starts.
“Graha nalla orai” means the good hourly windows ruled by planets. Each hour of the day is governed by one of the seven visible grahas—Sooryan (Sun), Chandran (Moon), Sevvai (Mars), Budhan (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukran (Venus), Sani (Saturn). People use these quick, planet-ruled hours as a first filter to pick a time for small starts: making key phone calls, paying fees, signing a form, purchasing items, switching on a new appliance, starting study, and so on.
How to read the chart you see above
- —The left column lists the weekdays (ஞாயிறு… சனி).
- —Across the top you have hourly slots (6–7, 7–8 … 5–6). These are daytime blocks in IST.
- —Each box shows the ruling planets for that hour.
- —A small star (★) marks Suba Orai—a particularly favorable hour in many traditions.
- —Many panchangam schools compute horai from sunrise. If your city’s sunrise differs noticeably from 6:00 a.m., shift the sequence accordingly. For travel or ceremonies, always confirm with your priest/astrologer.
What each planet is generally used for
A quick way to use nalla oraigal
- —Pick your weekday and scan the row.
- —Choose a starred (★) slot if available; otherwise prefer Guru, Shukran, Budhan hours for gentle starts.
- —For home/land tasks (vaasthu, repairs), Sevvai can be fine; for documents and interviews, look for Budhan; for fees/registrations, Guru works well.
- —Ensure the slot doesn’t clash with Rahu Kālam, Yamagandam, Kuligai for your locality.
- —If it’s a major life event (wedding, grihapraveśam), treat horai only as a helper—finalize with full muhurtham (tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, and the couple’s charts).
Practical tips
- —Be ready a few minutes early so the key action happens inside the hour.
- —For ceremonies, keep a short prayer/lamp if that’s your practice.
- —When in doubt, pick a calm, practical hour that suits your team/family and double-check local blockers.
